An improvement
in memory chip technology has allowed computer manufacturers to offer a new computer
with a faster operating speed to the public. Because the chip is cheaper to produce as well,
the manufacturer can retail the new computer at $2,800; down from the old model's $3,000
sales price.
The improvement in technology has caused an increase in supply. The
same quantity of computer now costs less. This is shown as a shift of the supply
curve to the right.
